If you’re heading off on holiday to lovely Lincolnshire, you’ve made a great choice.

As the UK’s second-largest county, Lincolnshire has it all. From history to wildlife and culture to theme parks – there’s something for all the family! What’s more, if you’re searching for the perfect place to stay, look no further than our range of amazing fishing lakes with lodges here at Wold View Park.

So, if you’re planning your trip to Lincolnshire, be sure to check out what we believe to be five of the best places to visit in the region…

5 of the best places to visit in Lincolnshire for all the family

1. Experience 1000 years of history at Lincoln Castle

The incredible Lincoln Castle is a place where both kings and convicts have walked, providing an unforgettable day out for all the family.

Take in the spectacular views across Lincolnshire from the Medieval Wall Walk as you explore the towers and dungeons, then immerse yourself in the lives of prisoners and their daily routines as you experience the imposing Victorian Prison and extraordinary chapel.

Finally, there’s the chance to visit one of only four remaining original 1215 Magna Carta that changed the course of history, alongside the Charter of the Forest.

2. See baby seal pups at Natureland Seal Sanctuary

Natureland Seal Sanctuary is well known for rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured seal pups that have been stranded on Lincolnshire beaches.

During your visit, you’ll get the chance to hear all about the sanctuary’s wonderful rescue work and see the seal pups for yourself in the rearing pool!

There’s also the opportunity to see lots of other animals such as penguins, meerkats, alpacas, tropical birds, and butterflies – plus there’s also an aquarium, tropical house, koi carp pool, and gift shop for souvenirs, too.

3. Soak up some culture on Steep Hill

The infamous walk up Steep Hill in the heart of Lincoln leads to and from Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle, and the Cathedral Quarter.

First used by Roman inhabitants, today Steep Hill is known for its vintage boutiques, quaint team rooms, and other historic sites. With cobblestone streets lined with some of the oldest buildings in the city, as well as independent shops, eateries, and more, it’s a truly olde worlde experience.

As you head up the hill, you’ll also find Harding House Art Gallery, the 12th century Norman House, and the remains of the Upper South Gate to Roman Lindum Colonia – so rest assured there are plenty of places to stop and catch your breath!

4. Visit Bengal tigers at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park

Lincolnshire Wildlife Park is a great day out for all the family. Just 15 minutes from Skegness and set in over 20 acres of beautiful gardens, the wildlife park offers sanctuary to animals from all over Europe.

A registered charity, the Wildlife Park is and home to a vast array of animals including the UK’s largest group of Bengal tigers and one of the biggest collections of parrots in the world – 1500 talkative parrots, in fact!

You’ll also find white lions, meerkats, lemurs, giant tortoises, reptiles, pumas, panthers, otters, and more. Finally, there’s a children’s play area surrounded by picnic benches so you can rest and refuel as well.

5. Ride the rollercoasters at Fantasy Island

Located on the east coast of Lincolnshire, Fantasy Island is a theme park for all the family.

With over thirty rides, ranging from extreme rides and rollercoasters perfect for thrill seekers to more family friendly rides for little explorers, as well as arcades and attractions such as soft play and live character shows, there’s something for everyone at Fantasy Land!

If that wasn’t enough, the theme park is also home to Europe’s largest seven-day market, making it the perfect place for shopaholics to peruse the stalls selling everything from toys to clothes and grab a bargain.
